David Barbosa, 18, bodyboarder. This year he is battling for Pro Junior world title, and has big chances to qualify for 2016 bodyboarding professional elite. He recognise his responsibility over young surfers and bodyboarders, who really look up to him, seeing in David that it is actually possible for a kid born and raised in slums to be a successful athlete. He believes local surfers are aware of what causes São Conrado’s pollution, and taking care of the trash produced daily at Rocinha, without throwing it away on the big ditch called Valão, is the way to improve the quality of water while awaiting for a definitive solution from the government.
